Sayyid Al-Hakeem from Haditha: We Count on the Tribes to Uphold Unity and Stability, and Our Diversity Enriches Our National Identity

During the ongoing visit to Anbar Province, Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers' Alliance, was received at the guesthouse of Sheikh Najm Batal Al-Jughayfi in Haditha district. The gathering included His Excellency the Minister of Industry and Minerals, Dr. Khalid Batal Al-Najm, alongside a number of tribal leaders and notables from western Anbar.
In the address, H.E. paid tribute to the noble national legacy of Anbar’s tribes and their distinguished role in resisting terrorism, especially during the rise of the Daesh threat. H.E. emphasized that the tribes of western Anbar were on the frontlines, defending the nation, faith, and unity, and offered their bravest sons as martyrs for the sake of Iraq’s security.
H.E. underlined that Iraq’s pluralism is a source of strength and depth, and that all Iraqis are united under a shared national identity that embraces every religious, sectarian, and ethnic component.
H.E. also noted that tribes form a foundational layer of Iraq’s social fabric, serving as a stabilizing force and a cornerstone of social cohesion. Their traditions do not stand in opposition to civic values but are harmonious with religious principles and sound customs. The crises Iraq has endured have increased public awareness of the importance of unity and cohesion, exposing sectarianism as a political issue rather than a societal one.
H.E. urged the continuation of the current path of stability and development in Anbar and other provinces, stressing the need to preserve and expand on the progress made while preventing any setbacks.
In closing, Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem reiterated that such visits to the provinces are primarily social in purpose, intended to foster national dialogue, strengthen bonds across communities, and deliver messages that reinforce peaceful coexistence and Iraq’s historical unity.
