Sayyid Al-Hakeem Discusses Women's Rights, Political Empowerment with “It’s Time for Iraqi Women” Initiative Delegation
Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers' Alliance, received a delegation from the “It’s Time for Iraqi Women” initiative to discuss the current status of Iraqi women, the protection of their political and social rights, and the importance of coordination between women-focused organizations and the Supreme Council for Iraqi Women.
His Eminence stressed the need to safeguard women’s representation and uphold their constitutional and legal rights, stating that empowering women is a source of real strength for Iraqi society. H.E. called for stronger support for women's presence in the political sphere, reflecting their vital role in nation-building.
Sayyid Al-Hakeem emphasized the importance of aligning efforts with the Supreme Council for Iraqi Women, which plays a key role in assessing women’s conditions and proposing practical solutions. H.E. noted that the Council includes influential female figures from within the Iraqi government.
H.E. also urged women’s organizations to take on pressing social issues and contribute to addressing negative phenomena while promoting a culture of awareness. H.E. expressed hope that women will surpass the constitutional quota in upcoming elections, given their proven competence and successful experience—particularly in legislative and executive roles—and stressed the importance of highlighting these achievements to strengthen public confidence in women’s contributions.
