Sayyid Al-Hakeem Visits Sulaymaniyah, Meets Bafel Talabani: Emphasizes Dialogue, Stability, Citizens’ Rights Protection
At the start of his visit to Sulaymaniyah, Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers Alliance, met with Mr. Bafel Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, to discuss the latest political developments in Iraq and the region, along with upcoming national entitlements.
During the meeting, H.E. congratulated the people of Halabja on the Iraqi Parliament’s decision to officially recognize their city as a new governorate, expressing hope that this step will bring long-overdue justice and services to a city that has endured immense suffering and made profound sacrifices.
H.E. reaffirmed the importance of preserving the current stability Iraq enjoys and stressed the need to transform this into a lasting and deeply rooted stability. H.E. called on all political and social actors to take responsibility in supporting this trajectory.
He also emphasized the need for continued dialogue between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government to resolve lingering issues. H.E. underscored that such dialogue must be grounded in the constitution and guided by a willingness to prioritize the national interest. In this context, H.E. stressed the importance of safeguarding the rights of public servants and farmers across all Iraqi provinces.
On regional affairs, H.E. expressed his support for the ongoing dialogue between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States, describing it as a necessary step toward regional stability. H.E. also reiterated Iraq’s strong backing for such efforts and highlighted the urgency of securing stability in Syria while ensuring that all components of the Syrian people are fairly represented in determining their country’s future.
