Sayyid Al-Hakeem from Amerli: This City Embodied the Legend of Iraqi Resilience — Time to Honor the Sacrifices and Be Grateful for the Blessings
Concluding his tour of Salah Al-Din Province, Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers Alliance, visited the guesthouse of MP Mahdi Taqi Al-Amerli in the district of Amerli, where His Eminence was warmly received by a large gathering of tribal leaders, community dignitaries, and residents from Amerli and across Salah Al-Din.
In his address, H.E. praised Amerli as a shining symbol of resilience and national will, declaring: “Amerli is a legend in defending the homeland — a city that stood unshaken in the face of terrorism, defeating it with unwavering resolve and becoming a source of pride for all Iraqis.”
H.E. reflected on the deep historical ties between the religious authority of Imam Al-Hakeem (may his soul be sanctified) and the people of these areas. H.E. stressed the importance of preserving and documenting the sacrifices and timeless memories shared with these communities so that future generations understand that the Iraqi people are inherently defiant against oppression and rooted in a rich civilizational and national identity.
Underscoring the importance of embracing Iraq’s religious, sectarian, ethnic, tribal, and regional diversity, H.E. stated, “The Iraqi rejects guardianship and embraces openness and mutual respect. A unified national identity can only be achieved when everyone recognizes each other’s rights.”
H.E. acknowledged Iraq’s difficult past—from dictatorship to terrorism and divisive rhetoric—but emphasized that words have the power to preserve life or incite bloodshed. Therefore, H.E. called for language that promotes unity and extinguishes the flames of discord.
Turning to Iraq’s present, H.E. encouraged a positive outlook, noting the country is now enjoying political, security, social, and economic stability. Iraq, H.E. added, has effectively become “a massive construction site” with development projects underway in many provinces.
H.E. affirmed that gratitude for blessings comes by speaking of them and spreading hope rather than despair. H.E. concluded by urging broad participation in the upcoming elections and emphasized updating voter registration cards as a fundamental step toward meaningful involvement—vital for sustaining stability and continuing Iraq’s journey of progress.
