Sayyid Al-Hakeem Commemorates Imam Al-Sadr Martyrdom, Fall of the Tyrannical Regime, Stresses the Need for National Unity

On April 9, Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers' Alliance, marked two significant events that embody divine tradition and divine will—both of which represent pivotal moments in Iraq’s modern history. On this day, Iraq and the world remember the martyrdom of the revered Imam Sayyid Muhammad Baqir Al-Sadr and his virtuous sister, the scholar Bint Al-Huda (may their souls be sanctified), as well as the collapse of the tyrannical regime that committed heinous crimes against Iraqis of all backgrounds.
H.E. emphasized that the assassination of the martyr Al-Sadr was a profound loss to all humanity, as the world lost a distinguished intellectual whose contributions enriched global knowledge across multiple disciplines. H.E. affirmed that the dictatorship’s execution of such a visionary figure was an unforgivable crime against thought and innovation.
On this solemn occasion, Sayyid Al-Hakeem renewed his call for national powers to unite, rise above sectarian and partisan interests, and work together to fulfill the aspirations of the Iraqi people. H.E. also urged all parties to prioritize reason, logic, and the constitution in resolving disputes, while emphasizing the importance of preserving national cohesion and safeguarding the country during this sensitive period in regional and global affairs.
