Sayyid Al-Hakeem at Ramadan Gathering: Reaffirms Iraq’s Unity and Sovereignty, Urges Broad Arab Participation in Upcoming Summit

During a Ramadan evening hosted by the Iraqi Home Salon, Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers Alliance, emphasized the importance of reinforcing Iraq’s security, political, and social stability. H.E. pointed to positive developments in Iraq’s relations with its Arab, regional, and international surroundings, as well as the nation’s ongoing reconstruction and development efforts that are contributing to its recovery.
H.E. expressed deep concern over the escalating israeli aggression in Lebanon, Gaza, and Syria, stressing that Iraq addresses regional and international challenges with balance—neither exaggerating nor downplaying them. H.E. affirmed that Iraqi factions remain committed to avoiding any actions that would embarrass the government, asserting that their historic role in combating terrorism should now be matched by prioritizing national interest in decision-making.
Reaffirming Iraq’s rich diversity, H.E. stated that the country’s governance and policymaking must reflect that plurality, while upholding the right of all components to seek fair representation within the framework of the constitution and unified state. H.E. also called for broad Arab participation in the upcoming Arab League Summit in Baghdad, emphasizing its symbolic and political significance and Iraq’s rising regional role—a topic H.E. said was central during recent meetings with Arab leaders.
H.E. underscored the importance of the Coordination Framework as a national necessity, noting that its stability directly impacts the stability of the governing coalition and the country at large. H.E. urged all political forces—including the Sadrist Movement—to engage meaningfully in the upcoming elections, warning that the absence of any group would be a loss for the country.
Regarding the electoral law, H.E. reiterated the alliance’s support for a system that encourages multiple lists and pluralism, affirming the National State Powers Alliance’s commitment to its path and partners. H.E. also highlighted Iraq’s improving ties with neighboring states and the global community, citing the return of foreign companies as a sign of growing international confidence in Iraq’s future.
In closing, H.E. called for a unified Iraqi position in the face of national and regional challenges, voiced support for Syria’s stability and the inclusive participation of all its communities in shaping its future, and firmly rejected any constitutional amendments imposed through domination, stressing that the constitution must remain a platform for national consensus. H.E. concluded by describing current discussions about federal regions as ill-timed—despite their constitutional legitimacy—urging instead a focus on national unity in preparation for successful elections.
