Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers Alliance, received this evening the Head of the State of Law Coalition, Mr. Nouri Al-Maliki. During their meeting, the two leaders discussed recent political developments in Iraq and the wider region, exchanging perspectives on key political and security issues. Both underscored the importance of strengthening dialogue and fostering cooperation among various political forces.
At the outset, H.E. called for utilizing the blessed month of Ramadan and the upcoming Eid Al-Fitr as an opportunity to encourage greater engagement among political actors, bridge differences, and work collectively toward resolving lingering challenges—ultimately serving the best interest of the country and its citizens. H.E. also stressed the importance of safeguarding the political, security, and societal stability that Iraq has achieved.
H.E. further highlighted the need to advance major national projects aimed at improving living conditions and boosting public satisfaction. He also advocated for empowering local governments by granting them their full constitutional and legal authorities, as well as ensuring they receive their financial entitlements, to enable them to meet their responsibilities and promote development across all regions.
On the security front, H.E. praised the high level of readiness among Iraq’s security forces and stressed the importance of preserving the country’s stability. H.E. also expressed his hope for peace and prosperity across the region, emphasizing that Iraq’s stability is intrinsically tied to that of the broader Middle East.
Concluding the meeting, H.E. reiterated his condemnation of the ongoing targeting of communities in Syria and urged the international community to assume its responsibilities in halting the violence in Gaza, providing humanitarian relief for the displaced, and supporting the reconstruction of war-affected cities throughout the region.
