Sayyid Al-Hakeem Meets Al-Surchi Clan Sheikh, Emphasizes National Unity
Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, head of the National State Powers Alliance, met with Sheikh Najm Agha Al-Surchi, head of Al- Surchi tribe in Iraq. During the meeting, Sayyid Al-Hakeem reaffirmed the vital role tribes play in Iraqi society, highlighting their contribution as a foundational pillar of the country’s stability and the cohesion of its social fabric.
Sayyid Al-Hakeem emphasized that addressing the current challenges requires greater national unity and solidarity. H.E. stressed the importance of strengthening Arab-Kurdish unity and fostering communication among social groups across the nation to enhance social harmony and unify efforts against any threats.
H.E. also expressed his gratitude to Sheikh Najm Agha Al-Surchi and Al-Surchi clan for their warm reception during his recent visit. H.E. noted that the strong historical ties between his family and the Kurdish people reflect a legacy of mutual respect and cooperation. H.E. referenced significant historical moments, such as his grandfather Imam Sayyid Muhsin Al-Hakeem’s (may his soul be sanctified) efforts to prevent conflict with the Kurdish people, and Sheikh Mahmoud Al-Hafeed’s alliance with his Arab brothers during the Great Iraqi Revolution of 1920, as symbols of deep Arab-Kurdish brotherhood.
