Sayyid Al-Hakeem Lauds Government Efforts to End International Alliance File, Calls for Relationship with Several Countries on National Interests, Sovereignty

Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, head of the National State Powers’ Alliance, met with the U.S. Ambassador to Baghdad, Her Excellency Ms. Alina L. Romanowski, and discussed key issues, including the evolving political scene in Iraq and the region, and the bilateral relations between Baghdad and Washington. His Eminence praised the Iraqi government's efforts in negotiating the end of the International Coalition's mission against ISIS. H.E. also stated the importance of transitioning to direct bilateral relations between Iraq and certain coalition countries to safeguard Iraq's interests, stability, and sovereignty.
H.E. stressed the need to strengthen democratic values in society and to protect citizens' rights to freedom of expression and belief, emphasizing that these rights are fundamental constitutional and legal principles that cannot be compromised.
H.E. also called for an end to the war in Gaza, noting that those seeking to de-escalate tensions in the region must increase pressure on israel to halt its unjust war in Gaza, which is a major driver of escalation. H.E. warned against the potential widening of the conflict and Israel's ongoing violations of international law, including the systematic and daily killing of children, women, and unarmed civilians.
Furthermore, H.E. stressed the importance of empowering all segments of society and affirmed that justice for women is justice for society as a whole, as women represent its core, half of its population, and the nurturers of the other half.
