Sayyid Al-Hakeem discusses bilateral ties, stresses on date elections with Australian Ambassador
Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, head of Al-Hikma National Movement, met with the Ambassador of Australia to Iraq, Her Excellency Ms. Paula Elizabeth Ganly on 11/9/2023, and exchanged views on the political developments in Iraq and the region, as well as the bilateral relations between Iraq and Australia.
H.E. stressed the importance of enhancing bilateral relations in both the agricultural and economic sectors, and the significance of benefiting from the Australian experience in agriculture, irrigation, and water resource management.
Furthermore, H.E. discussed the political landscape and noted that the three-year budget will provide the government with an opportunity to deliver services and regain the citizens' trust in the political system.
H.E. also highlighted the importance of fairness for various societal segments, such as persons with disabilities, and called for the enactment of laws and the provision of infrastructure to support this. Moreover, H.E. emphasized the importance of holding local elections on schedule and clarified that provincial councils represent the most crucial governmental arm in providing services after the role played by ministries in this regard.
