Sayyid Al-Hakeem Receives President of the Republic, Discusses Political Deadlock, Expedite President Election, Form Government
His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers’ Alliance, received His Excellency the President of the Republic, Dr. Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, where both sides discussed key developments shaping the political landscape in Iraq and the wider region.
During the meeting, His Eminence underscored the urgency of breaking the political deadlock and moving forward with resolving constitutional obligations, foremost among them the election of the President of the Republic by the Parliament and the formation of a new government. H.E. pointed out that the challenges surrounding Iraq make it imperative to expedite decisive action.
H.E. also renewed the call on the political powers representing the respected Kurdish component to settle their position and put forward a nominee for the presidency, emphasizing that this step is essential to easing the path for the rest of the political process.
At the regional level, H.E. reiterated the need to bring ongoing conflicts to an end, cautioning against the risks of further escalation and its potential global consequences. H.E. stressed the importance of returning to reason and constructive dialogue as the most effective means of resolving crises.
