    Sayyid Al-Hakeem Calls for Attention to Livestock, agriculture is best for environment and climate change issues

    Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers’ Alliance, met at his office with a delegation of farmers from Al-Zubair District and areas in the southwest of Basra, along with several representatives from the oil sector engineers of 315 and daily wage workers of 2022, as well as graduates from oil institutes. MP Ali Shaddad Al-Faris attended the meeting. His Eminence listened to their demands and discussed with them the current agricultural situation and ways to build on the positive outcomes from the previous phase, during which Iraq achieved self-sufficiency in several crops.
    Sayyid Al-Hakeem emphasized the importance of agriculture, considering it one of the sectors that can reduce Iraq's reliance on oil and the rentier state economy. H.E. stressed the need to support farmers with fertilizers, equipment, fuel, and all other agricultural essentials.
    H.E. also highlighted the need for optimal water usage through mechanization and modern technology, noting the significance of fresh water in the coming phase. H.E. called for greater attention to livestock and reiterated that agriculture is an ideal solution to environmental and climate challenges.
    Additionally, H.E. called for fairness towards oil sector engineers and emphasized the importance of requiring foreign companies operating in Iraq to employ Iraqi engineers and workers who have not had the opportunity for government appointments. H.E. stressed the importance of training and development to produce a generation capable of mastering the oil industry in all its sectors.
