Sayyid Al-Hakeem Stresses Elections on Schedule, Urges Broad Participation

Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers' Alliance, met with Claudio Cordone, Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Iraq. They discussed recent political developments and various conferences and activities related to human, women's, and children's rights. His Eminence emphasized the importance of community engagement in supporting these groups and highlighted that the responsibility should not be limited to governmental and institutional efforts alone.
H.E. underscored the need for continued internal dialogue to refine laws, noting that areas of agreement or disagreement provide opportunities to mature these laws and bring them forward in the best form possible, making them more capable of addressing real-world challenges.
H.E. emphasized the importance of holding the upcoming elections on their scheduled date and called for broad participation, considering it a vital expression of societal engagement with the political system and a significant opportunity for citizens to express their opinions and choices.
H.E. reaffirmed his support for Prime Minister Al-Sudani’s government in its service and development path, noting that most opinion polls indicate public satisfaction with the performance of the government and the political class.
Regarding the Gaza crisis, H.E. renewed his condemnation and denouncement of the daily massacres committed by the Israeli war machine against Palestinians, calling for an immediate ceasefire, the reconstruction of the city, and the return of displaced persons.
