    Sayyid Al-Hakeem Affirms EU for Iraq, Calls to Enhance Bilateral Ties to Serve Both

    Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers’ Alliance, discussed with the European Union Ambassador to Baghdad, His Excellency Mr. Thomas Seiler, on the shared files between Iraq and the EU. His Eminence highlighted the EU’s significance to Iraq and called for strengthening bilateral relations to benefit both sides.
    H.E. reaffirmed his support for government efforts, in collaboration with the EU, on addressing terrorism, corruption, and drug-related challenges. H.E. noted Iraq’s substantial experience in combating terrorism, which could be valuable to other nations facing similar security or military threats.
    H.E. also stressed the importance of learning from others in the fight against corruption. H.E. renewed the call for transparency in the "Theft of the Century" case, urging a public trial to reveal all details and those involved. Moreover, H.E. underscored the need to combat corruption by cutting off its sources, utilizing modern technology, and overcoming obstructive bureaucratic hurdles.
    H.E. advocated for concluding the international coalition against ISIS, suggesting it be replaced with direct bilateral relations with certain coalition members, ensuring Iraq’s interests, security, and sovereignty are upheld.
    Lastly, H.E. reiterated the call to end the war in Gaza, holding the international community accountable. H.E. emphasized the necessity of applying international laws and resolutions impartially to the occupying israeli entity.
